御軾鳳凰文錦（ぎょしきほうおうもんにしき）
聖武天皇が御使用になった肘掛（軾）にはられている裂地で、葡萄唐草をめぐらした円文の中に一羽の鳳凰を織出しています。円文の中に動物を置くペルシャ式の文様構成と、中国の文様である鳳凰、そして葡萄唐草という東ローマ式の意匠とが巧みにひとつの構図をなしており、奈良時代の文化振幅を如実に物語るものといえます。
